Using this site with assistive technology

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. We do not claim automatic or certified compliance — this is an ongoing effort and we fix reported barriers as a priority.

What we build and test for

  • Skip link, landmarks and a single ordered heading structure on every page.
  • Full keyboard operation with visible focus for menus, filters, the lightbox and the request stepper.
  • Labelled fields, inline error text and an error summary on the request form.
  • Text contrast at AA, no state signalled by colour alone, touch targets of at least 44 px.
  • Readable at 200% zoom and 320 px width without horizontal scrolling.
  • Animation honours prefers-reduced-motion, with static fallbacks.
  • Descriptive alt text on tattoo photography, with a studio review queue for images awaiting a written description.
  • Automated axe checks plus manual keyboard and screen-reader passes on key templates.

Known gaps

  • Some imported gallery photographs are still awaiting studio-written alt text.
  • The embedded map is third-party; an accessible text address, directions and phone alternative is always provided beside it.
